STARS is a regional school and is owned by the Diocese of Buffalo who sets the management structure, some policies and curriculum standards. The Bishop of the Diocese appoints a Canonical Administrator to oversee school operations and be the Spiritual Leader of the school. The Canonical Administrator is also President of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is unique to regional schools and is regarded as the governing body of the school. The Board of Trustees sets the operating policies, oversees the school’s operation and finances and authorizes the school’s activities including Family Association functions.
Each member of the Board of Trustees applies to be on the Board and is appointed by the Diocese of Buffalo. Board members are appointed to three year terms.
Ordained as a Permanent Deacon on June 14, 2014, I was appointed by Bishop Malone as the Canonical Administrator of STARS in August of that year. As the Canonical Administrator, I am responsible for guiding the school’s governing board in its work, assuring that STARS remains faithful to Catholic teachings & values, and ministering to the school’s students, staff, & families. I possess a Masters degree in Pastoral Ministry, a Masters degree in Business Administration, and a Bachelors degree in Secondary Education. Since Deacons are not paid for their ministerial work, I also operate a software development company which focuses primarily on hospitals and medical laboratories.
