Mrs. Griffin (Music)

Welcome to Music!

Our music program at St. Aloysius Regional School is exciting and diverse.  We offer General Music classes for Pre-K to 8th grade students, Jr. High Chorus, Middle School Chorus, Elementary Chorus, Select Chorus, Handbell Choir, and Chime Choir.  Our students perform several times a year, including in a Veteran's Day Program, a Christmas Concert, A Spring Concert, and for local nursing homes.  We have a wonderful partnership with The Springville Center for the Arts where students attend several field trips a year, in addition to field trips to the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Shea's Theater.  Our school is a member of ECMEA (Erie County Music Educators Association).  We follow the New York State Standards for the Arts and the diocesan STREAM curriculum.

Students have music on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

A band and instrumental music program is offered to grades 1 - 8 on Wednesdays through the Paul Effman Music Service.

This is my 4th year teaching at St. Aloysius Regional School.  I attended St. Joseph School in Gowanda K-8, graduated high school from Gowanda Central, and hold a MS. Ed/Reading Specialist degree from St. Bonaventure University and a bachelor’s degree in Music Education and English Literature from SUNY Fredonia.  While at SUNY Fredonia I sang throughout Europe, California, and New York with the Chamber Singers.  Choral singing is a real passion of mine!  I taught music for 10 years in the Lancaster and Hamburg Central School Districts and also worked as the music teacher and music minister at the St. Francis Zuni Indian Mission School in New Mexico.

Outside of school I do my best to keep up with my 3 children and all of their activities!  In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family, read, sing, and travel.

3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students enjoyed a Young Audiences performance by Mama Earth (Susie Rozler) in music class on 11/30.  The presentation featured songs, instruments, and stories from around the world.  It enhanced interdisciplinary units being done for STREAM between 3rd grade and music in their study of world cultures, and between 4th grade and music in their study of Native Americans.
